Water is essential to life. Everybody knows that humans can survive for quite awhile without food, as long as they have water. Dehydration brings death pretty quickly. That’s at the crucial level. But on an everyday basis, your body uses water to do some amazing things that we never think about. Here are some of them:
1. Water energizes you
Whereas dehydration depletes your energy levels very fast, water remedies this almost in an instant. Water is necessary in order for your blood to transport oxygen and other essential nutrients to your cells, so if you’re adequately hydrated, everything will flow more effectively and you will feel instantly energized. Next time you feel drained and exhausted, drink a full glass of water and you may just be surprised at how quickly you bounce back.
2. Water helps you have toned muscles
Wait… what? Did you ever know that water helps you tone your muscles? It lubricates the joints in your body and keeps them healthy and thriving. It also prevents muscle cramping from happening. Athletes know that when you’re well hydrated, you are able to exercise for much longer and with higher intensity without fear of hitting the wall.
3. Water banishes kidney stones
Kidney stones are becoming more common these days. They are solid crystals that form in your bladder from an overabundance of salt and minerals in your urine. However, if you drink plenty of water, you will never get kidney stones, because they cannot form in diluted urine. So keep yourself well hydrated and you should never have to worry about this painful condition.
4. Water helps you eliminate smoothly
Yes fiber is important for proper elimination, but fiber without water won’t do much good. You need a lot of water to help you digest your food properly. It will help dissolve the waste particles so that they can pass easily through the digestive tract. If you are not drinking enough water, your colon will be dry and it will make it that much more difficult to have bowel movements.
5. Water makes your skin beautiful
Forget expensive night creams and beauty regimens… when you’re dehydrated, your wrinkles and fine lines are just going to show up more. Drinking water may actually be the fountain of youth, as it will hydrate your skin cells and make you look younger by plumping them up. Water also helps to flush out any impurities, and your skin will soon start to look young and beautiful if you drink enough.
